Sparkle Sparkle!

It feel so isolating when internet access isn't there! I was away for the weekend, and a software upgrade caused issues with the resident modem, resulting in no internet access.  Ergo I couldn't get my post up!

Anyway, this week at Card Crafter's Circle our challenge is for your creation to SPARKLE!!! Bling it, Glitter it, whatever you can use to make it sparkle! We are kindly sponsored by Whoopsie Daisy, who is offering our winner their choice of 2 sheets of images (that's about 8 images!)!

Ingredients: Golden Pearl Cardstock; Patterned Paper; Pearlescent Chalks; Stardust Glitter Pens; White Gel Pen; Various Markers; Waterpen; Clear Rhinestone; Cream Pearls...

I coloured the image with markers and a water pen, and with glitter pens (for her wings, flowers, and clothing accents). I used a white gel pen for the dove, and filled the background with golden shimmery chalks.  On layers of co-ordinating shimmery papers, I've fixed the image layer with pearls, and then onto a base of golden shimmer cardstock.  I finally added a rhinestone at her collar.

(Unfortunately the picture here doesn't show the sparkle and shimmer the card actually has!)

I hope you will join us at Card Crafter's Circle and dazzle us with your SPARKLING creations!  Thanks for peepin'!

Rainbow Bright #22 Card Crafter's Circle

Our challenge at Card Crafter's Circle for you this week is themed Rainbow Bright.... we want to see bright colours!  I love bright fun colours... and they lend themselves beautifully to our sponsor this week.... Bugaboo Stamps! Our challenge winner will receive their selection of 7 Bugaboo images...woohoo!

I chose to create my colourful card with the handsome Theodore... perhaps initially a Shamrock theme, but I thought it would look great with colourful clover!

I've let the colour do the talking in this creation, by colouring with markers and a waterpen, and glitter pens for the clover. I used a mat 'sandwich' or rainbow paper between two slices of red (tee hee, not bread) on a cardbase of yellow/gold pearl card.

If you look closely, you can see the wee bug's hat sits over the trimmed image layer (I trimmed the image layer with my blade cutter, up until reaching the hat, and trimmed around the hat with scissors).

Do come along and join us at the Card Crafter's Circle.... we love to share our inspiration, and we'd love you to share your creations in the RAINBOW BRIGHT Challenge! Thanks for peepin'!

For My Favourite Girl

Hey hey! I've been crazy this week with Mother's Day cards for friends... everyone wants a handmade card for their Mum for Sunday, isn't that great! I just love Mother's Day, because my Mum, and my Grand Mums (although departed) are awesomely special to me!

At For Fun Challenges this week, the challenge theme is For Your Favourite Girl.  And since it is almost Mother's Day, I chose to create something for (a) Mum. So here 'tis!

Ingredients: White cardstock; chalks; lace; pearls.... (must be my shortes ingredient list in history!)

I've created with a white cardbase, and a white image layer, sandwiching cream gathered lace.  The image layer uses an image from XXX, coloured with Pearlescent chalks, both neat, and painted with a waterpen.  I added a pearl border to the image layer.  I didn't over embellish, but wanted to keep a feminine look.

I am entering this card in the challenges at
Kaboodle Doodles - #118 Honouring Mothers (14/5)
Lollipop Crafts - #79 Mamma Mia! (14/5)
Love to Create - #14 For Mum/Special Lady (14/5)
Crafty Sentiments - Mother's Day (15/5)
Use It Tuesday - #31 All About Mum (20/5) Using one of my many hoarded laces!

Do pop over and join us at For Fun Challenges... we'd love to share our inspiration with you, and we'd love  to see your Best Girl creations!  Thanks for peepin'!

#21 Mum's the Word!

Down here in Australia, we celebrate Mother's Day on the second Sunday in May. Although other countries celebrate their Mothers on other dates, this week the team at Card Crafter's Circle would love to see Mother's Day / Something For Mum creations!

We are always excited to have our current sponsor Dearie Dolls!  Although the Dearie Dolls Shop is closed at the  moment, our Dearie Doll ise still graciously sponsoring our challenges.  But don't despair... go visit the Dearie Dolls blog  and see what is happening .... it's a blog full of freebies!  And they are gorgeous!  Do  leave some love in your comments when you collect the free images, won't you?

I created with a finely detailed image this week... and loved every minute of it!

Ingredients: Metallic Blue cardbase;  SU! deco papers; SU! Markers; Aquash Pen; Glitter Pens; Metallic Pens; Pearlescent Chalks; Varigated Embroidery Floss...

It's funny how people say they struggle with particular colour combinations etc.... I struggled with this one! With the colour combo for the card (not the image), and for how to dress it with embellishments!  I didn't  what to use a white cardbase, and green and purple matting ... yes it would have been CAS, but I think too stark. After I found this gorgeous blue metallic card, I fished out some purple deco paper, and I thought it went well.... but how to choose the patterns from the set! Still I was stuck for embellishments.  I was going to add beads to the Morning Glory centres, but it didn't look right, so I just added gold metallic pen centres. With the dimensions of the image layer, I had more space on the sides, so I thought stitching!  So I just did a quick 'dash' of running stitches with varigated embroidery floss.  I'm so glad that the variations in the thread matched up!

Had I thought a little longer, I'd have used green chalk at the lower part of the image, and not the same mix of blue chalks.... silly me... sky blue grass!
I'm also entering this image in the challenges at:
Little Red Wagon #131 Stitch It Up! (9/5)
Craft Us Crazy #26 Favourite Stamp Co/Found Inspiration (10/5) Inspiration from Digital Stamps
Dutch Dare #163 Spring Has Sprung! (10/5)
Forever Friends Spring (Monthly Challenge) (31/5)

I hope you'll swing by the Card Crafter's Circle blog and check out the incredible creations the team have on display.  And do join in our challenge... Thanks for peepin'!
